Tiktok absolutely had cesspool components to it, but there was definitely an authentic community thriving there. People were trying. It will be missed, and hopefully easily replaced with better alternatives

A lot of the information I know about transition I learned direct from trans masc/femme people on Tiktok. TikTok allowed us to see first hand the horrors happening in places like Gaza, and people screamed in outrage.

I remember a queer/trans creator in the UK would post themselves doing 'normal' mundane things that are sometimes kind of scary, like going to a cafe alone to show everyone that it was okay. I really found comfort in that post 2020.

And also hot people 🫣 gay/trans people are so hot. TikTok was my first opportunity to see trans/queer people comfortable being themselves and feeling safe to share their lives.
