It appears she's gotten herself into some trouble, though, and Houston has finally put together STS-2A a rescue mission!

The orbiter fleet has been retired since July 2011 with 135 human crewed missions. Commander Stella has captained mission number 136 - or STS-1A in April of 2022. She blasted off on the first animal only flight.

Have you heard of Commander Stella, my mascot? Seven beloved animals decided it was time for NASA to take the Space Shuttle Orbiter out of storage and bring it back to create a habitat off the earth for all animal kind to venture where no animal has gone before.
