Some sketches I’ve been contemplating on sharing for a while now, but I figured why not. I was trying to encourage myself to experiment more and bring more personality to my ideas. I could’ve pushed these further, but they were fun to make!

Two sketchpages filled with my take on Maneki-neko’s (aka the luck cat figurines). Two on each page for a total of four funky lucky cats. All done with graphite on tan paper. A closer shot of the right page. At the bottom left is a lucky cat inspired by artist and designing duo, Arty & Chikle from Mexico. 💜 While the top right is a toony baphomet done in that good ol’ retro style I enjoy doing. Instead of the traditional coin maneki-neko’s usual hold, I did a spray can and a book in its place. A closer pic of the left page. This one contains a muscular lucky cat at the top left, who’s wearing some cool shades and an ill-fitting speedo. At the bottom right is a stoner cat who’s extra fuzzy and friend-shaped. In place of the coin that’s typically held in the left hand, I went with a protein bar and a bong respectively.

An old design of three ghostly rat brothers, done in the style of 1930’s cartoons: the youngest is slender and wacky looking, the middle one is average but rougher looking with beard and long hair, and the oldest is all muscles. Redesigning the oldest brother, with bigger more defined muscles, huge traps and possible hunch back, big hairy belly, plus a cigar. Along with some head/hair variations.
