I see a dead eye across the room. Hunger for reprise across the room. A muzzle--patient--on its side. Metal lips wry across the room. Dandelions scrape granite sides. Green stalks wave "bye" across the room. The thought thumps a dull beat, a tune The rhythm's a lie across the room. Melodious though: set, click, squeeze I can only guess why across the room.

The Wolves Are Always Walking There was a path, but not for us, a road implies an ending-- and for us, the wolves who walk, there is no place of mending No place of rest will take a wolf-- no respite, no repose, for the wolf is cursed to walk where only danger goes. And even then, and out of sight, the wolf is always chased, for those that have a road to walk fear a wolf displaced. So we walk, and so they follow, an eye always to our tracks. “A paw print!” they say, miles away “How dangerous these packs! “They’ll come for us, if we let ‘em! They’ll hunt us near to death! They’ll take our road and make us walk! They’ll leave us all bereft!” I can tell you little else, pup. No promise can I make, that one day, we won’t have to walk and our hunters will cease chase. What I can say though: look down, pup see our many tracks see how the dirt is padded and see how little grass. We always walk, but the walk is less then it was for those before. I can’t promise we’ll stop walking, but it’s easier than before

I hear a distant rattle on a chill wind. A chime dangles on a porch with peeling paint. A plastic witch leans on a moldering door. A cackle carries across the plain. Over undulating cornfields, lonesome roads not paved since highways stole their purpose. The trees tremble in anticipation And shake themselves bare in wooden anxieties

Forgot to post it yesterday, but here's one of my favorite spooky poems for Halloween
Now God between us and all harm, For I to-night have seen A banshee in the shadow pass Along the dark boreen. And as she went she keened and cried And combed her long white hair, She stopped at Molly Reilly's door, And sobbed till midnight there. And is it for himself she moans, Who is so far away? Or is it Molly Reilly's death She cried until the day? Now Molly thinks her man is gone A sailor lad to be; She puts a candle at her door Each night for him to see. But he is off to Galway town, (And who dare tell her this?) Enchanted by a woman's eyes, Half-maddened by her kiss. So as we go by Molly's door We look towards the sea, And say "May God bring home your lad' Wherever he may be." I pray it may be Molly's self The banshee keens and cried, For who dare breathe the tale to her, Be it her man who dies? But there is sorrow on the way, For I to-night have seen A banshee in the shadow pass Along the dark boreen.
