The new sovereign power isn’t land or oil, it’s compute and energy.

Whoever owns those, owns tomorrow.

This weekend's realization, I was using AI to ask about AI control. This morning I found research confirming how that control works. Maybe coincidence, maybe pattern recognition. Either way, read AI 2027, it hits hard and presents the right questions. We can't just not think about this one.

We're at that 2004 moment with AI where we may be able to choose different. But the window is closing fast. The big Q is who controls this power, access & whether regular people have any say.

When wake to whats happened, the concentration of AI power might be so complete that human choice becomes a joke. Not sci-fi, just following trends we can see right now if we're paying attention.

I want to be wrong about this, wish I could take away the weekend rabbit hole. I love this tech. But I've seen this shit before with military tech, with social media. The gap between what we get & what they get just keeps growing until regular people become irrelevant data points.

Every time we use these "democratized" AI tools, we're training systems we'll never access as fast as others. Our conversations, our thinking patterns, our problem-solving, all feeding models that'll can be used to manage us, not help us.

Social media was bad enough, data mining, election manipulation, all that. But you could still live without it if you tried hard enough. AI is different. We're talking systems that think, plan & execute at superhuman levels. Maybe by 2027.

Same pattern, different decade. They sell us "democratization" or "flattening" while power concentrates behind closed doors. We got FB, they got psychological warfare tool. We get ChatGPT for homework help, they get AI that can "automate most white-collar jobs."

AI 2027 confirms what I feared: "The public is months or more behind internal capabilities today, and once AIs are automating AI R&D a few months time will translate to larger capabilities gap." Months turning into YEARS of advancement happening behind closed doors.

This morning, timing feels crazy, find ai-2027.com. Written by Daniel Kokotajlo who worked at OpenAI & predicted stuff that actually happened. Most detailed, research-backed analysis of where AI is heading I've seen. And it validates everything I was worried about (conspiracy hat).

Started thinking about how we get dumbed down ChatGPT while institutions get unrestricted versions or able to pay premiums. How every conversation we have trains systems to predict & control us. How "AI democratization" is just marketing speak for sophisticated control. Made me feel sick, honestly.

This weekend, looking at my crypto investments. Start talking with AI and rabbit hole into Qs about... AI control systems. Hits me: I'm giving data and using the exact thing I'm worried about to ask how to escape it. Meta problem much?

Cambridge Analytica breaks. Everyone's freaking out. 'WHAT?! Facebook was manipulating us?!' I'm sitting there like... dude, why didn't I see this? Obvious in hindsight. But by then everyone's hooked, me included.

I get out. Facebook is this cool college thing. But I KNEW from military work that data collection & behavioral analysis were weapons. But, really still didn't think much more than "connecting people" while I and the rest, completely missed the control system being built with our given data.
