Just been having a similar conversation in our house. Do they know something we don't? Or are they simply not very bright, and not seeing what we believe is right in front of our eyes? They sure as heck don't seem to be representing the wishes of their constituents 🤷

Likewise from Australia!

The 'other' main character in Du Maurier's Rebecca has a "lovely and unusual" name, but we never learn it. Is that the sort of thing you mean?

With your luck, Benjamin, you'd purchase a cellarette and then discover it had been signed by Hepplewhite or Chippendale 😉

*Bucks, UK. You'll see it in the Poirot episode "The Incredible Theft" (if you haven't already during your 'Full Poirot Chronologically' adventure 😊

'One' is sadly underused. Once, when purchasing entry at the gate of Chenies Manor*, the lady of the house enquired (presumably in light of previous infractions) as to where we had parked. On learning we had parked outside the school, she replied, in very genteel tones: "Oh, one shouldn't . ." 😉

"Gimme a break!" Heard, rather than seen, in Australia, I think. Possibly an import 🤷😊

🩷 Such sad news. Saw her on stage in 'Admission: One Shilling'. Perfection.

The Canon is particularly unfunny for the poor cellists (or, depending on the orchestration obvs, other bass instrumentalists) playing the same eight-note sequence over and over and over and . . 🥱

All the other musicians in the ensemble get a good laugh out of that though 😉 🎶🎵

I was born in Stockport and am inclined to be irked . . But I'll let it pass 😉😊

I believe 11 is a 'banker's dozen' 🤭

We like that one too. Also the opening of a play/concert = 'kickoff' 😊

It was pretty weird. If only there was another word he could have used to make his point . . and he LITERALLY used it in his explanation! 🙄

Gosh, he didn't take that well, did he? 😉

I frequently arrive far too late for one of your 'block parties' and can't resist scuttling over to Clear Sky to see what I've missed 🤭
