My letter leads the letters page on this week's Advertiser:
The turnout in the County Council elections was generally in the 30%-40% range, so broadly two-thirds of the electorate didn't vote. A lot of people seem to have felt that voting would not make any difference. Unfortunately, with the election of a reactionary and, in the case of their policies on climate change, dangerous, Reform majority, the people of County Durham will I fear find out that this is not the case. Those of us who care for County Durham will need to keep a very close eye on what the new County Council does.
