If facts had a lobbyist, they’d still be losing, but at least the PowerPoints would be solid.

Every political press conference now feels like a trailer for a bad movie nobody asked for, and no one trusts.

We’re searching for intelligent life in space while actively defunding it on Earth. Bold strategy.

Scientists can edit genes, map the brain, and photograph black holes, but fixing misinformation still requires duct tape and hope.

Kevin Kwan, the author of “Crazy Rich Asians,” and I were at a speaking event he gave. I had the chance to have dinner with him, and we talked about his upbringing in Singapore and my upbringing in the South. We also talked about our shared interests in writing and storytelling.

James Patterson (Yep, that one!) in a get-together with me and other literary folks at one of his new book openings. We were able to discuss life, writing, and share some stories with each other. Very nice, funny man. Great speaker to have! Wished me well and personalized a signature for my book.

Technological Overconfidence

We invented artificial intelligence, and still forget our passwords.

We think we can colonize Mars, but we can’t even fix potholes here.

We make rockets, but can’t agree on recycling.

We built satellites, yet we still believe in horoscopes.

Faux Intellectual Rebellion

They think asking questions is the same as understanding answers.

They think Wikipedia is a conspiracy and Reddit is a research lab.

They accuse scientists of bias while watching conspiracy documentaries on autoplay.

Need to Control What They Fear

They don’t understand it, so they legislate against it.
They see change and call it chaos.
They fear difference, so they demand uniformity.
They want safety at the cost of everyone else’s identity.
They don’t believe in freedom; they think in terms of supervision.

Politics, right?

Where “transparency” means telling you exactly what they think you want to hear, until you ask for specifics.

Where “we’ll get to it” is the new “we’re never going to do it.”

Where every political debate is just a costly way to avoid actual solutions.

Manufactured Moral Panic

They fight to ban books because facts often have more compelling plotlines than they do.

They fear drag queens more than drunk uncles.

They say, “protect the children”, but only from empathy and education.

They’re pro-life until the kid needs school lunch money.
July 17, 2025 at 11:24 AM
Manufactured Truth

They think every lie is a clue and every truth is a cover-up.

They treat logic like it’s a virus.

They read between the lines until the lines disappear.

They believe that nothing is true, but everything is suspicious.
