#1- Paper Mario TTYD Remake
There is no other choice. TTYD has been my absolute favorite game for years now, but the Switch version somehow made it even more perfect. Exploring TTYD with new dialogue, content, and EXQUISITE visuals, seriously nothing can top that. It’s perfect ❤️

#2- Persona 5 Royal
Words cannot describe how much I savored nearly every ounce of this masterpiece. I seriously don’t think I’ve played another game, where the hours truly felt like minutes, except for Persona 5. It might have my favorite writing from any game. Easily ranks as a top 5 game for me.

#3- Red Dead Redemption 2
After finding RDR1 to be decently fun, but nothing more, I was anxious for 2, but wow. RDR2 features CONSISTENTLY exhilarating missions, wildly interesting characters, including easily one of the best protagonists ever, and a truly emotional story.

#4- Trails in the Sky SC
Peak Trails so far. Truly fun world exploration, exciting story, and a reasonable, enjoyable level of difficulty. Also has to have some of my favorite character moments from any game. I’m bewildered to hear that Trails maybe even gets better from here

#5- The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
Surprise of the year! I haven’t loved the recent Zelda games, and have never been huge on top down Zelda, but EoW absolutely elated me! Gotta be my favorite top down title, and seriously the most fun I’ve had with Zelda in years.

#6- Persona 5 Strikers
Out of the Warriors games, P5S is easily the weakest that I have played. THAT said, I REALLY had a great time with it, purely thanks to its writing and vibes being so damn strong. If you like the Phantom Thieves, P5S is worth a play.

#7- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
One of the most incredible games out there… with some of the WORST segments and writing that I’ve ever seen. Truly a mixed bag, of intense combat, excruciating world exploration, ELITE character moments and nonsense, multiverse BS storytelling.

#8- Born of Bread
Easily one of the most charming games I’ve ever played, made all the better by its Paper Mario style gameplay! I have TONS of minor gripes about it, but despite those, there is still a lot to love, making for a great game!

#9 Trails in the Sky the 3rd
What a weird ass game lmao. Even still, Trails 3rd was a solid game, with a good few moments of stunning writing. Its unique spin on the Trails formula didn’t super land with me, so it’s my least favorite so far, but even still, Trails is always gas!

#10- Persona 5 Tactica
I expected to dislike P5T’s gameplay, but love the writing. Somehow, the opposite happened. Tactica quite possibly has the best grid based gameplay I’ve seen. But the story is BRAIN NUMBINGLY boring. It does have some Phantom Thief goodness still though ☝️

#11- Mario and Luigi Brothership
Both the least exciting but also least offensive M&L game. Brothership is flooded with half baked potential, that could’ve made it the best game in the series, but instead the game ends up good at best, and okay at worst. It’s also way too long 👎

#12- Rune Factory 3
Of the RF games that I have played, this one is definitely the least exciting. Rune Factory is always gonna be good fun at a default level, but this title didn’t have much to stand out imo. Even still, any chance to play Rune Factory, I will happily take

#13- Metroid Prime
My first Metroid game… A mixed bag for sure. There was one segment, where I GOT IT, I understood the hype to Metroid… buuut for the rest of the time, I admittedly was only having an okay time at best. The navigation and how it handled story were not for me

#14- Pokemon Emerald
HA, oops, I’d never played Emerald before now. Not much to say with it. I wish I liked the old Pokemon games more than I do, but man, they really are a little too rough for my taste. Love Hoenn though ☝️

#15- Dragon Quest VIII
Ah Dragon Quest. DQ8 provided me a good few hours of simple fun. The writing never got overly enthralling, and the gameplay never particularly excited me, but even so, DQ is always gonna be fun at a base level. That’s what I got in VIII.

#16- Kingdom Hearts 2
KH2 outshines 1 in quite literally everyway, so much that I actually found KH2 to be fairly palatable! Still, KH gameplay can only be so good (not very) and the story of 2 is easily some of the worst incoherent nonsense that I’ve ever been subjected to.

#17- Final Fantasy VI
Another very old turn based game that just did not click AT ALL. I’ve heard excellent things about the game’s story, but truly, I could not get invested in the gameplay or story even a little. It eclipses Golden Sun thanks to its rockin soundtrack

#18- Golden Sun
In last is Golden Sun. I attempted this turn based GBA game, and unfortunately just did not have any fun with it. Its mechanics did not click with me at all, so after a good few hours of pulling teeth, I had to call it quits.

Alright, another year has come and gone, so it’s time to do one of my favorite activities… yapping about video games! Here is my ranking of every single game that I played for the first time in 2024

HUGE gap is the realest thing ever.
Personally this is how mine shakes out (Haven’t played Sparks of Hope)

Mario RPG games tierlist, now that I’ve beaten Brothership.

Following in Garo’s footsteps, I gotta show off my favorite of each Pokemon type!

Me seeing the Koopa Troop be renamed in the Super Mario RPG remake.
