Hi!
I’m CornApple and I make things, mostly flat things like paintings and block prints and maps, some game things, some gigantic things.
What do you make?
Sometimes I find things in my notes app that I do not remember making.
For instance:
This is Khan Noonien Singh fondly recalling some witch’s butter fungus he saw on a hike one time.

I believe that the literal “oldest joke in the book” is that thing where you reach behind someone to tap on their other shoulder so they will look that way.
I can easily imagine this joke predating language.

Sometimes when you see that particularly abhorrent post from someone you only have passing engagement with, it can be enough to notice others dragging them into the light. Let someone else do that work so you can concentrate on yourself and your real relationships.

That thing you like to make that doesn’t hurt anyone & seems to make people happy every time even if you don’t think you are good at it?
Set aside a bit of time toward that thing this week.
If you don’t have the time & I can help let me know.
If it makes people happy you are good enough at it.

I love when a malaprop just works!
A favorite that I still use almost 20 years later came from an elderly Ukrainian gentleman in Issaquah:
You can’t BF a BFer.

Jack White, hands to mouth, looking like the giggly, bashful love child of Michael Cera and a Bulletproof Boyscout while John C. Reilly sings Happy Birthday to him has been one of the highlights of my summer.

A kestrel just strolled across my front yard,
maybe ten feet away and five above the grass.
Real slow and casual like.
