When I pointed out that the RL consequences were to be running on little sleep but still doing all of the things I was committed to do, she kicked me out of the house. Three days before Christmas. I spent the rest of the year with my Aunt.

Then called her to tell her I was going to go to the basketball game. Was screamed at to get home. She grounded me for all of Christmas break. When I argued that she told me I could do it, she said "and now you deal with the consequences".

She told me "Its a school night, and I think its a bad decision. But you're an adult and have to make your own." So I went to the movie. Got home at close to 4. Woke up at 6. Went to school to work out, then to all my classes. Then to work for 4 hours at the grocery store.

The bad — I was an LOTR head in middle school, and was over the moon when the movies started coming out. My senior year of HS was the Two Towers, and the only ticket i could get was for the midnight show. I called my mom to tell her I'd be home late

The good — Being given Superman #75, Superman Archives volume 1, and Panic in the Sky for Christmas in 1992. That introduced me to a lifelong fandom, and without that fandom so much of my life would be different. I can't imagine a different world.
