The thought never would’ve entered my mind until I saw this post.

I’m local, so I’m going to Dragonsteel. While I’m excited to go, I have super limited time with a toddler, so I’m stressing to find time where I’ll actually be able to read the book. 1,300 pages 😭😂

Now I’m 30 and a dad, and like, I just feel so much more positive about the world now. Which is insane given recent events, but I feel more ready to face what the next few years bring. I think being a dad has helped me focus on the things I love about life, because I’m sharing them with my son now.

I’m mostly joking about the lame part. The reality is I just don’t view it as being as lame anymore. I spent a lot of my 20’s rolling my eyes at sentimental “cringe”, but idk, I just don’t have that same care in me now. I feel warmer toward the world, if that makes sense.

Welcome to our strange little state. Enjoy your time and eat at Red Iguana! Hope to see you at the con!

I took awhile to grab me, but I’m over halfway now and really enjoying it! Should wrap it up before Dragonsteel. I loved Yumi! But it similarly took a little bit to get its hooks in me.

And that’s so exciting! Happy you’re caught up in time for Wind and Truth!

For what it’s worth, my wife and I attended Dragonsteel last year and were shocked by how… chill it was? Very pleasant people, not smelly, not overly crowded. Totally different experience when compared to any other con I’d attended. Regardless, thankful that you’re braving it for us this year 😊

Also, as a government employee who is feeling a considerable amount of heat right now, it felt good to be seen for the work we do every day.

Definitely not the case for everyone! But I found that having a set goal actually discouraged me from reading, so if you’re feeling the same way just let go and be freeeeee! Don’t un-fun your hobbies!

Mostly the same. I listened to about half of the original prologue reading Brandon did, and then decided to nope out so I can take it all in at once.

I was blown away, particularly by the final 1/3. I had another book I planned on starting right after, but since finishing I’ve been so tempted to jump straight into The Fires of Heaven.

I decided today to officially jump ship too. Twitter is a nightmare site.
