Seeing Tech/Business folks lean into eugenics, phrenology, & other stupid ideas. It shows the lack of training they are getting in regards to genetics/evolution, stats, ethics, & history of science.

GRFP workshop today!
We typically have ~125-150 mentors meeting with 250-300 students during the workshop.
We also accommodate on-site drop-ins through an ad hoc speed matching of mentors and mentees.
Here is a video from 2024 that was toward the end of the workshop. We had over 400 mentors+mentees last year.

I know a couple of ISU biology departments with more seminars from alternative career pathways. This has been a conscious decision by the faculty with some pressure from grad students and postdocs. Article (2017)-->career exploration happens primarily at Postdoc level and not during PhD.
