My issue is that all recipes assume you can chop vegetables at the speed of a professional chef.

30 minute recipe? Sure, assuming you can mince 8 cloves of garlic in 30 seconds.

I don’t think I ever knew what the name of this band was. I have of course heard their music before. In retrospect, what else could they have possibly been named?

Seems like things are changing rapidly cuz I don’t see an intolerant label on your account or your article.

I mean how do you make that story interesting? With Trump era scandals you can fill endless news cycles but with this all you can really do is a few retrospectives about how clean it all was.

Those retrospectives certainly exist but average voters probably aren’t reading them.

My day is ruined.

Please for the love of all that is holy and good tell me we are not actually calling them “skeets”.

I’m usually a bit of an apologist when it comes NYT’s headline writing but this one is especially bad.

Anyway if anyone reads this whole thread that’s crazy and I think I’m just rehashing something Jon Stewart said in a much more convoluted way.

So democrats can shift to the right culturally in response or reactivate a Bernie-style progressive populism and neither will be the “right” reaction it will just be what happens in a chaotic system. And they may win again regardless as a reaction against Trump.

When something like this happens it feels like an encounter with reality where everything before it was just speculation and an attempt to persuade.

But it isn’t actually more true, it’s just what happened as a result of competing narratives and methods of persuasion.

It’s easy to imagine everyone else as a sheep and yourself as a rational actor but we are all fighting with each other to mold and also to accept the narrative.

So the outcome of an election can drastically shift things because it is unarguably “true”. (claims of fraud notwithstanding).

There is always this nebulous middle American that the more hardcore partisans are trying to tap into but it’s never clear how much they exist as their own arbiters of “truth” vs. are entirely swayed by the most powerful and salient narratives of the day.

They say the victors write history but the losers do too, and winning or losing can dramatically change what you write about your own side.

Either your ideology barely survives a given test or it’s crushed by it. Even though reality is more complicated.

In theory, the result of an election shouldn’t change where people land on this spectrum but in reality in definitely does.

Because everyone cares about “ultimate” outcomes even though the result could’ve been flipped by 200k voters in swing states.
