The world is on track for a catastrophic global heating increase of 2.6C above preindustrial levels by the end of the century, according to a Climate Action Tracker (CAT) report. This is the same temperature rise predicted last year. It means governments have not taken the steps needed to avert climate catastrophe, and have made little or no measurable progress for the fourth consecutive year. The 2.6C increase would mean “global disaster”, said Bill Hare, CEO of Climate Analytics. “That all means the end of agriculture in the UK and across Europe, drought and monsoon failure in Asia and Africa, lethal heat and humidity. “This is not a good place to be,” Hare added. “You want to stay away from that.” This level of global heating would likely trigger major tipping points, resulting in the loss of coral reefs, the collapse of Atlantic Ocean circulation and the deterioration of ice sheets. It would see the Amazon rainforest turned into a savannah. Global heating of 2.6C far breaches thresholds set out in the Paris agreement signed in 2016, which compels countries to update their plans to cut carbon emissions. The CAT update is clear that while a small group of countries are making genuine progress, their efforts are being undone by other countries delaying or rolling back climate policies. It singles out major emitters the EU and China for failing to propose new targets that change their course, and the US for rolling back climate policies, withdrawing from the Paris agreement and seeking to “undermine global climate action”.

The genocide hasn't stopped! In Gaza, part of the siege's tools today involves allowing the entry of a large number of goods consisting mainly of carbohydrates, sugars, starches, and snacks such as coffee, chocolate, ice cream, baking ingredients, and fancy cheeses. The aim is to force citizens to consume high-calorie foods, thus increasing their apparent weight and concealing the starvation inflicted on Palestinians for 700 days. I lost 20 kilograms, but now I'm gaining weight because I'm forced to eat foods high in fat and sugar! They're unhealthy, but that's what Israel allows in! They don't compensate for the lack of protein, vitamins, or essential minerals needed to prevent real malnutrition. They're systematically forcing us to gain weight! They want to prove to the United Nations that the famine is over. They restrict the entry of meat to very small quantities, while flooding the markets with mozzarella cheese. It is a method of structural violence and collective punishment. It is a savagery carried out by a group of educated human animals who know exactly what they are doing. This should be studied in the literature on genocide, and these methods should be written about extensively.
