The idea that Bowdoin College is one of many schools that have become "feckless workshops for leftist political orthodoxy" because it offers a degree in Africana studies is belied by the data. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/28/u...

Nearly all of the top major at Bowdoin are related to finance or science.

I live in Ward 4, Pinto represents Ward 2, but this showed up in my mailbox.

When a DC council member sends mailers to residents who aren't her constituents... she's definitely eyeing higher office.

The artificial intelligence hype cycle is off the charts. Literally.

AI deals now account for a record 63 percent of all venture capital investments in the past year, according to data compiled by PitchBook. pitchbook.com/news/article...

We found that the Trump-backed crypto company disclosed risks from climate-related disasters, contradicting the president's efforts to downplay concerns about rising temperatures. www.eenews.net/articles/don...

The piece also included another wildly informative chart my colleague Paroma.

I was about to recycle this. But taking a page from @fahrenthold.bsky.social, here was the first draft of the graphic Paroma Soni made for my story about the Trumps and American Bitcoin.

The connections between these companies were so complex that I really needed a visual aid to understand them.

American Bitcoin's top investors include Eric Trump and Don Jr., who's dismissed climate concerns as “hysteria” and “fear mongering.”

It was launched by Hut 8, power plant and data center operator, and by Dominari Holdings, a small pharma company turned financial institution based in Trump Tower.

The Occidental-friendly tax tweak shifted a climate subsidy intended to reduce CO2 emissions toward producing additional oil, raising questions about whether it could fuel further warming.

It came after Occidental directed a wave of political spending toward GOP candidates in the 2024 elections.

Occidental Petroleum is poised to profit from the megalaw because it increased subsidies for using captured CO2 to produce additional oil, a drilling practice Occidental has pioneered.

“Since they are the pacesetter, they are the ones best positioned to take advantage of an enhanced tax credit.”

The program does not “recommend, support or develop plans for the use of marine cloud brightening to alter weather or climate,” UW's Sarah Doherty told E&E News.

She said the program remains focused on researching the tech, not deploying it.

The University of Washington-led team didn't respond to questions about the status of the Puerto Rico-sized experiment.

Its donors include cryptocurrency billionaire Chris Larsen, philanthropist Rachel Pritzker and Chris Sacca, a venture capitalist who has appeared on Shark Tank and other TV shows.

The team's next step was to conduct a test that would have produced clouds over a stretch of ocean larger than Puerto Rico.

The program had already begun fundraising, meeting with U.S. officials and hired consultants for the ocean testing, which it said "would be readily detectable from space."

The initial study took place last April atop a former aircraft carrier in Alameda, Calif., and was kept secret from local leaders until it was underway.

"There will be no mention of the study," a comms staffer told the Marine Cloud Brightening Program researchers before they meet with a reporter.
