I would like to get a new dexa scan to check my body fat percentage around summer. Last summer, I was at 35% body fat. I hope to get sub 30% to be in the average or healthy range by then.

In order to not lose too much muscle mass, I want to keep doing resistance training at least 3 days a week. I do some other sports 1-2x a week as well.

I am also aiming to eat about 100g of protein a day. Which is more than I usually eat.

My first goal by February is get to 140-142lbs which would be my lowest weight in the last year.

Then, I hope to slowly lose about 5lbs a month until I reach my goal weight around summer.

- I have more mental space for other things!

That’s a lot of reflections just from the first week. I hope to regularly update my experiences and progress here so I can look back on my journey months/years into the future.

- Ozempic has allowed me to feel less guilty eating snack foods because for the first time, I actually can enjoy it in moderation.

- I no longer have to rely on strict restrictions in diet out of fear of binging on something unhealthy.

It’s amazing! I can finally stop at any time without this itch to have more.

- the reduced urge to eat intensely, imminently, allows me to slow down and make logical healthy food choices, rather than let my emotions drive me to binge on something less healthy.

- when I eat, I can feel that sense of satiety in half the amount of time.

- I am now finally able to eat a preferred snack (like a really good cookie or chocolate bar) without feeling the intense urge to finish the whole thing (and have another).

- I can still feel hungry, but the intensity is much lower than previously. I haven’t felt “hangry” all week, when it was not that uncommon for me before.

- I have less food noise. I used to think about snacking every 2 hours. I used to crave a sweet latte/boba tea almost daily.

I will continue to exercise and do resistance training 3-4x per week. I will prioritize eating lots of protein and vegetables daily.

Since starting ozempic in the first week, I have noticed these changes:

As a “Christmas gift” to myself I have made the choice to prioritize my health.

I have done my research and have a medical doctor monitoring my progress. I made the decision to go on Ozempic for health, so I intend to do everything I can to make healthy decisions while I am on this medication.

I am 30+ and lived through years of struggling with my weight and trying dieting and exercise over and over. Over the last year I have made improvements to my diet and exercise but struggle to consistently decrease my weight below 145lbs (BMI 25.6 overweight category).
