Small nephew got Wolf Road as a present, amongst others (including Swallows and Amazons!) - I'd already got my dad Domination for his birthday, but it was noted that two of his Christmas books (from multiple people) had glowing quotations from an 'Alice Roberts' on their covers...

Likewise, I built pyramids out of sand - perfectly shaped, about 50cm high...

(I do wonder how much odd archaeological stuff is from ancient kids mucking about!)

I love the slightly forgotten, out-of-the-way sections of museums - I clearly remember wandering up into the Wellcome attic at the Science Museum aged ~10 or so, and leaving an hour or two later with a lifelong interest in medicine and human anatomy...
