to expand on the 2nd point, the murderer kind of intrinsically views the murdered one as an "equal" of sorts; someone worth the effort of *killing*, inducing a sort of weird respect of that person's humanity, dignifying them as a rival or someone to be vengeant against

i think part of it for me is
1. the pleasure the rapist gets from doing it somehow makes it more horrific to me and
2. the dehumanization of the victim inherent in the crime

i have very mixed feelings on libertarianism cause like. i really want people to have a lot of freedom it's just that sometimes even things i think you should be free to do can have negative impacts on other people and we have to figure out a balance
