Platner's own timeline of events has him ignoring media organizations asking about a white supremacist tattoo for several weeks.

Do characters from indy games rise to the level of A-list? Hollow Knight or one of the Undertale characters, for example.

Political media has internalized that scandals only "count" if the "base" cares, heavily to help justify their coverage of Trump.

A smaller risk pool means higher premiums or reduced payouts then compared to buying into a group plan on the marketplace.

We just had an election where Trump's threats to starve Americans resulted in dire electoral consequences for Republicans.
November 10, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Another problem for the GOP is "We promise to have a vote" was what they used for the last shutdown, and there wasn't a vote.

Luckily the media coverage of his trials reflected the obvious guilt of Trump, plus questioned his competence due to repeatedly falling asleep at one of the trials.

Yeah, Republicans only started negotiations this week after trying to jam Democrats by withholding food stamps just before an election.

Note that withholding food stamps just before an election worked about as expected.
November 6, 2025 at 9:21 PM
The Democratic ask had to be small enough to get Republicans to agree to it -- they don't want a prolonged shutdown.

It was also over a major issue that they knew was coming and people would expect Congress to fix. For all summer they were pointing out the problem.

Combined with the earlier "Dems about to cave" article, it seems like Republicans are still working internally on the easiest part of their proposal and haven't reached bipartisan negotiations.

Maine discourse currently is people explaining why it's ok that their perfect candidate had a Nazi tattoo.
November 5, 2025 at 8:41 PM
It's not "the government is evil", it's "other groups having power is evil".

Obviously a hard sell when trying to form a coalition... but the goal is not to form a coalition. It's to lead an identity politics focused group to glory with other coalition members forced to follow.

I think they can course correct to try to mitigate the damage.

But of course, that would require Republican politicians not promising to hurt Republican voters. Withholding food stamps just before an election was insanely damaging for the GOP.

People organizing food drives to protect their community from the President might have mattered for this election.

In general, healthcare reform can't get the public's buy-in if it gets rid of current health insurance providers (see unions).

The standard method is to establish a public health care model standard that private insurance providers conform to.

TLDR: Opt-in (or opt-out) Medicaid.
November 4, 2025 at 11:36 PM
It's also an odd conclusion to take from the article, as written.

I mean, maybe the GOP plan really is "We're promising them a vote later". But as written, it's "Passing health care tax credits will be part of the deal".

Quick reminder that Platner ignored people telling him he had a Nazi tattoo.

Gas in space requires a lot of mass to form into a body while being gas. I don't believe it's possible for a gas planet to be Earth-sized.

It's the other side of focus groups not believing Republican policies.

The Republican actions have been so damaging to their future prospects, there has to be a plan. And not just Republicans doing the things they said they would do.
October 31, 2025 at 12:04 AM
It is depressing to find out that the "online left" does not care about Democratic politicians doing the exact same thing, with them ignoring and downplaying other candidates in the race attending the same protests and also being attacked by federal law enforcement.
October 30, 2025 at 1:22 AM
Of course, the people being promoted are also likely to be the ones promising that more aggro will produce those impossible quotas.
October 28, 2025 at 1:42 AM
The problem is that the press isn't covering the story like a scandal.

People believe that politicians can force the media to cover stories as scandals, so therefore it is the fault of the Democrats that is it not being covered that way.
