The last (maybe…) edited shot of hummingbirds in the rain. Zoom in and you can see beads of water that rolled off his back.

I will miss these little aerobats when they head south… soon.

I spent about an hour sitting barely out of the rain in our backyard. My patience was rewarded with 30-some shots of hummingbirds in our gardens. Here are the first couple I’ve edited.

For all you “manly men” who love to watch men in tight pants who regularly slap each other on the @ss and are big-mad about male cheerleaders in the NFL: I give you the West Point cheerleading squad (The “Rabble Rousers”). This group was all male until about 1979 and men are still half the squad.

Went outside this morning and saw something scurrying up an apple tree in the neighbors’ yard. Looked up and knew I’d have to grab my camera. Caught this little Trash Panda in the morning light.

Re-edit of a photo from the 2021 partial solar eclipse. I was one of the first to arrive at Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum in the pre-dawn darkness. Eventually there were several dozen photographers and others waiting for the rising sun already partially eclipsed by the moon.

Mid-summer Columbine against dreamy bokeh.
This photo is from a couple of years ago: this year we’re in a serious drought and few of our flowers look this good.

At this past weekend’s Geneseo (NY) Airshow: the F/A-18F of the Rhino Demo Team and the F-35A of the Lightning II Demo Team. Both in a hard right turn, pulling vapor from the hot (100°), humid air.

Almost always the first butterflies here in central NY. Here’s one on budding lavender.

A great egret with a minnow it just plucked from the pond.
Photographers of BlueSky, let’s see those wading birds!

I’ve meant to edit this photo for a while; 2 years.

Two F-16s of the USAF Thunderbirds pass within feet of each other. Closing speed was probably close to 500 mph: I panned with the near aircraft and shot a burst of photos. This is the lucky, single frame from a burst of 10 that had both jets.

Tree Swallow on a snag above a pond. In this light their iridescent blue feathers show really well.

At 2:00am I was bundled up and out in the cold with my camera. My only company were the owls and coyotes. The celestial show was worth the lost sleep and the cold fingers and toes.
2 unedited (except slightly cropped) shots. Watch for edited shots later.

One of my favorite things about summer - besides that whole no snow thing - is airshow season! None of the major demo teams will be in Rochester this year, so I’m hoping that the Viper/F-22/F-23 demo aircraft will make an appearance.
