Sorry, Peter, I just joined... Sorry that I wasn't on when you posted. I searched for topics of interest and your post came up. My bad. Didn't mean to offend you.

Sorry, bud. I'll leave it alone from here for your sake. I just couldn't let him slander without rebuttal. I'll just block him from here.

Another falsehood. You say that I don't give AF. You couldn't be more wrong. Don't undermine your credibility by slandering people you know nothing about.

You also fail to post data about how many weren't abused. I agree with your data and believe that any number greater than zero abuse cases is too many, but don't misrepresent those numbers as if it is ALL scouters.

I'm not defending the ones who did the misdeeds. They should pay. However, it is false of you to claim that because some did wrong then all did wrong. You are losing credibility. I fear that you will undermine your own effort. I support your cause. We can both be right according to logic

Without even knowing me personally? Represent your organization with class. The victims deserve better than hurling false insults. It detracts from your credibility.

What lens was used for this?

But for those who are teens right now they can't wait for a new organization to be born. The infrastructure and resources in place are solid, they just needed to correct the course. Our troop follows the Youth Protection stuff to a T. It works and it changes lives in good ways.

And to be blunt back, thank you for fighting. The litigation has directly resulted in an improved program. It now has multiple layers of safeguards to prevent abuse and has refocused the community on making scouting positive. My kids have benefitted from that work. I wish it happened sooner.

I teach my students that any time someone resorts to name calling they've lost the argument. You are correct that there were abusers in scouts and enablers. That does not equate to ALL were abusers and enablers. Not does it mean that NO youth benefitted from the program.

Survivors deserve to be made whole. I agree. The vast majority of scouters are people of integrity and had a positive experience. To believe any argument that claims ALL is foolish. Continue your fight, but don't paint with broad strokes.

Sadly, victims will carry the burden forever and scouting struggles to stay alive because of the actions of those who came before us and the leaders who failed to act. Modern scouting has improved and has been a life saving program for my boys. I wish it was the same for all.

Modern scouting has changed dramatically. Secret organizations are not allowed in Scouting. It kept the good of the program as you described but did away with the bad. They made it safer and more inclusive.

That was a mistake, but the new leadership has set a new course of inclusion and a focus on what was good about scouting. Hopefully the world takes notice soon and it becomes a respected pillar again.
