Congrats! It’s a lot of fun!
I started a year and a half ago in order to become a better GM. I figured the best way to improve is to practice a lot. It has worked! I’m a lot more confident and so much better at the rules.

He’s married to another player and the four of us play at their house. So asking him to leave isn’t an option. It would be folding the campaign.

Mine’s a player at a table I GM. Not sure if it’s main character syndrome or something else.
If we do a combat where he doesn’t dominate he gets all pissy. The other day he was complaining that a magic item he got from an AP wasn’t one he could use “optimally”.
He sucks the joy out of the game.

This only impacts spells that target creatures.
So casting an AoE spell that includes a creature with sanctuary doesn’t have to make the will save.
It’s still a good spell.

You have to check out Tabletop Gold. Great GM, wonderful characters, and it feels like you’re sitting at the table as the sixth friend.

Of all the times I’ve run it, only one group didn’t get it. But the twerps guessed right anyway. (I rolled an 8, and for some reason that’s what they guessed.)
But then again, I tend to run it for Comp Sci people, and binary search is second nature to them. (See what I did there? :)
