If the game gets better 30 hours in then sure, great, but Mass Effect 1 to 3 were all much better at the start and created captivating worlds I couldn't wait to get lost in, as well as having combat that gave the player far more options than Dragon Age Veilguard from the outset.

As for my thoughts, 10 hours in, Veilguard's combat is like God of War in a bad way - clunky and unrefined. It is more interesting than GOW but that's not a high bar. And we are constantly facing nameless threats and I have given up on following the political threads as they seem to have no weight.

start of their games captivating. It would be one thing if you said that they were wrong because game IS good at the start, but to dismiss the critique on the complacency that "games are like that" ignores how much good work devs put in to NOT be like that, and how we can improve.
