What I took from this election is not that the electorate has become more anti-LGBT, but mainly that Republicans used it as an effective “the democrats don’t care about the issues that matter to you” tool. Underlying transphobia/homophobia still I guess, and may be wishful thinking in my part!

Yeah, and one being a blue wave vs the other a semi-red wave (while it was a clear Trump victory and there were landslide vibes it’s it feels hard to call it a red wave since dems performed well in close races and repubs barely won the house)

This sounds really promising! You mention that they have more powers than councils would here- do you think there is a case for expanding council’s overall powers? IMO it would be good to give council more autonomy over funding so they don’t have to run to the govt every time they want to raise cash
