"Florida Gothic" by artist Mary LaGarde. Her painting was inspired by Jimmy Buffett's song "Life is Just a Tire Swing" in which Buffett sings about waking up after a car crash and being surrounded by Grant Wood faces.

I was in the second grade in a small Cajun town in South Louisiana. Our school principal made an announcement on the PA that President Kennedy had been killed in a parade in Dallas. I remember thinking that Mardi Gras would not be until February so how could there have been a parade in November?
