For what it's worth - I don't disagree that AI replacing human artists is maybe something we don't want - I just think from a technical standpoint, it's a sensible thing to say, and impressive on the part of AI researchers

Maybe you can't compare artists individually but there's a sense where Michelangelo outranks an average career artist, outranks a high schooler who sketches for fun sometimes, outranks a 3-year old scribbling, and it should also make sense that AI can be at/past the Michelangelo end of this scale
