I found out about Otis's passing when I looked at Katmai's website and saw The Otis Fund, an annual fundraiser named for our beloved and rotund friend. Every year, it raises money for the preservation of Katmai National Park and all the wildlife that lives there.

Last night my father made us Extremely Strong drinks and apparently I chattered happily at my mother about the Pylos Combat Agate and Linear B for a while. (She called me a nerd. lmao)

I read a LOT of books on folklore that were probably age-inappropriate, but the two that set me off were Edith Hamilton's Mythology and Jan Brunvand's books on contemporary/urban legends. I was probably around 7-8, lmao.
