My grandfather, blessed be his memory, was fighting fires in Kern County as his conscientious objector duty during WWII. Memorably, over Christmas one year. I also saw some chucklefucks with sparklers yesterday so I'm thinking it's just the season (it should never be the season here, but I digress.)
