the only thing I can say in sciencedirect's defense is that their reading assistant stopped popping up.
But it is still there, lurking, with its uninvited "Questions you could ask" which actively disrupt my class activity (students coming up with questions you could ask)

Last talk of the 2025 season on December 17 (maybe add it to your calendar?)
This time, we are giving the floor to the DD&I co-chair

to say nothing of this abomination of ProQuest Ebook Central that has been an absolute bane of my existence recently and keeps popping up instead of the Table of Contents

uni library: AI research assistant. Just...no. It's bad enough that for four years now, you can't fix the catalogue entry for my PhD monograph which according to Andor is co-written by myself and some other lady I've never heard about. You don't need *more* automated info generation

even DuckDuckGo has succumbed
November 21, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Every time I open some research-related page, there is a new AI-blah-blah-amazing-search-schmearch button added. Honestly please just STOP already

Did you discuss spoken discourses of waste, too? ))

Of all places, there’s a sign pointing to Hof in the middle of Joensuu. @theresaheyd.bsky.social you can probably become an honorary citizen
November 7, 2025 at 2:14 PM
Ain’t I a clever bean for booking a separate train compartment for my long ride to Joensuu so that I can practice my presentation?

I’m quite proud of myself actually for arranging this little Labovian installation at the welcome event for first semester English students

Well, turns out you can do both: the kitchen is clean, and the presentation is finished! I had the pleasure of talking about a collaborative project on Lenin's register mixing at the #UCCTS2025 today (sadly, online, and in Hildesheim only in spirit)
