The irony is hard to miss: for Musk to introduce this rule at all, he must believe the Twitter/X ecosystem is a real place where location and authenticity matter. Otherwise, why bother? The fact it blew up instantly just shows how fragile that belief is.

What has scared me most is I think it’s genuine fear. Facts and logic won’t touch it. It’s a cliche now but experts/facts are trumped by opinion in people you’d least expect. It’s recent and has seriously harmed the family. I feel for you and everyone else - you’re right: something should be done!

My father in law is scared witless about sharia law and the Muslim hoards thanks to social media. He also thinks the mosque in Truro has been built as an advance invasion of Cornwall, why? ‘Cos apparently there are no Muslims in Cornwall - check that for FB logic!
