Anyway if you're a very sharp analyst within a particular discipline/policy domain, then becoming successful and subsequently succumbing to the temptation of all-purpose punditry is one of the most dangerous roads to damnation.

I remember, years ago, reading about the “arguments” which resulted in her conversation and finding the thinking very sloppy and specious.

Affection, mutuality, and reciprocity can exist in a relationship in which religious convictions aren’t shared but a common ethic is. There is little possibility of any of that when a core tenant of a belief system is the conviction that someone who believes otherwise is damnable for it.
