right? look the TCRI aliens have trouble lifting the container to drink the ooze, so, yes, they use bendy straws. they were so embarrassed when people gave them a hard time about it they stayed out of the movie. and yet.

Every facial expression, eye movement, and blink is all the way on, all the time. Like stage acting, the shows were broadly and clearly acted, but also like stage acting, if you had this level of clarity, you'd also see the actor being a human - relaxing expressions, looking around as they wait.

sort of? The gaining-popularity phase of these things is a month or two of posting 3-7 chapters a week, in competition with a hundred other new upcoming authors, where each individual negative review has a chance to drop you out of the running. The authors surfacing out win these multiple times.

these things are written serially, posting chapters every week. so if an author does even one chapter experimentally off-tone, they can watch their readership drop in real time. It's an insane way to write.

part of what's going on is the niche market rewards segmentation. Any sex and the progression fantasy tends to turn into a harem; any romance slows the pacing and it turns cozy. so if they're not doing those things, they don't even hint at them.

they're liked for opposite reasons, i think. The Descent is intensely crafted - likely more effective if you saw it in a theater. As Above So Below is conceptually different, with a lackluster delivery. People love "exploring a scary place with unknown rules", but they're rarely meaningful/coherent.

some interpretations of polymorph have the necessary extra/extraneous mass of the shift being moved moved off into another dimension. So just to give another possibility: the portable hole pops off, taking the extra mass with it, the person comes out of polymorph smaller/larger.

seems to be the same person. On the left, the lens seems to be fisheyeing, hiding the ears and adding some distortion. like a school id machine setup, maybe? there's other pictures of him you can compare to that make it clear. there's other record problems, but probably not these pictures.
