i dont recall saying good luck.

Tá Gaeilge agam, mar sin abair hello 👋 (yes I support #efc, yes I hate myself for it)
Is SF gonna remain the only opposition party capable of forming a non FG/FF government, or is it more likely that the two will split and one will form another coalition?

Oh aye I’m aware, I’m just wondering what the feeling is. The polls seemed to be indicating it’s neck and neck between the three main parties again, but I’m only asking for pure speculation!

Yeah I get that, it just appears Ireland has avoided the type of politics that engulfing, say, France right now and would be in a lot worse shape than if it hadn’t

And several extremely tense elections in other European countries in that time. Ireland has just had various flavours of FG/FF.

All have had elections that have been perceived as “saving democracy,” or “rescuing the country from the brink.” Ireland has had the same people roughly and same electoral forces competing with really similar results since 2016. Think we’ve had two Trump election wins, a British hung parliament

I know it’s not the kind of stability you would want policy wise, but their collective ability to provide the same party and parties in government over an extremely turbulent period is astonishing. Think about the instability in the UK, US, France, Germany, Italy, and Poland in the same period

Maybe I am wrong with all this, just looking for some meaning in three days of transfers

7. The voters obviously want a left wing alternative, and maybe this might be better done by the SDs than Labour, PBP-S, or SF. If the SDs stay in opposition and present a coherent alternative, they maybe in a really good place to absorb votes and potentially position themselves well for 29.

6. I understand that the SDs and Labour insist they have lots of differences, but a lot of this is due to the Labour brand being tarnished. This is the first election since 07 they’ve gained votes, and as I’ve mentioned, I think the SDs have had a lot to do with this.

5. Whatever the circumstances, the SDs should go nowhere near government. With 22 centre left TDs, voters will look for other avenues, especially with the concept that SF might never be accepted by enough of the electorate to govern. Labour have done well, yes, but I think lots of this is due to SDs

4. The Soc Dems are a real force to be reckoned with. They massively outperformed expectations (even generous predictions had them at 6 or 7 seats), and their success has had a positive impact on Labour and insulated PBP-S (to a lesser extent). Holly Cairns had a good campaign, but…
