Should be interesting to see Humphreys try to answer questions on this without the irono-meter exploding, but much more serious than her presenting the medal is the fact that the Gardaí decided to honour this person in the first place. Utterly chilling.

Over 1600 people have now been arrested for offences like "wearing or displaying clothing" that arouses suspicion that they support Palestine Action. Impossible to overstate how repressive this is.

I have an important deadline this week, which means I am locked in, focused, and un-distractible.

In totally unrelated news, I lacto-fermented some mushrooms, marinaded them in maple syrup and covered them in chocolate then repaired a washing machine motor.

The Hollywood Reporter quoting Mo Chara from Kneecap as just "Chara" as though that's his surname name is cracking me up.

A decent run.

It's a pity Professor Vermeule hadn't thought up common good constitutionalism when he was defending Bush-era torture policies. There were plenty of vacuous arguments for absolute executive power back then, but this one would really have come in handy.

The only Government quote in the IT piece is vague fluff about considering all of the options arising out of the review of RPZs.

In an ideal world, we would protect young people from accessing dangerous or harmful material, but increasingly, that isn't possible.

That's why in our Advanced Issues in Legal Philosophy class, @lawstuff.bsky.social and I let students encounter legal positivism in a controlled, safe environment.

Sometimes it can be hard to balance my day job with my other role as Chief Taste Assurance Officer at my wife Sophie's micro-bakery, but I do my best.

These ludicrously good things coming to a Dublin café soon 👀

The White House official 'fact sheets' page is a useful literary guide for writing free-indirect narrative for a character who is insane.

Wouldn't it be easier to teach astronauts to fetch rather than send a dog into space?

Approaching 5 years of using the same sourdough starter. Readers may decide for themselves whether that is a nice milestone for a hobby I enjoy or a horrifying reminder that our perception of time broke forever when the pandemic started.

Got to see Louise Lowe's immersive adaption of The Dead last night in Museum of Literature Ireland. Amazing stuff.

Some lovely digital post today. Thrilled with the cover design for my book, coming out early next year with OUP's Oxford Legal Philosophy series.

The book is an anti-positivist theory of statutory interpretation in UK public law - perfect for your undergrad reading lists or children's birthdays.

Will it be hard to finish my rap on how cool Administrative Law is in time for next week's lecture? Yes, but I am committed to innovative teaching.

I haven't quite figured out whether I should use Bluesky for purely professional purposes, political engagement or sharing pictures of my dog. Pending a final decision on that, here is Benji wearing a sock on his injured paw and encouraging you to
