I do when I’m in a season of interviewing. I try to follow the STAR outline for describing projects. I’ll explain the Situation, Task required, Action I took, and the Result. Great question!

The portfolio is less important to me after the first couple data jobs I held. What matters more at this point is networking and being able to verbally describe previous projects I’ve worked on for an interview.

Is there such a thing as using too many macros in dbt?

I once had to debug someone’s dbt model, and they had at least 20 macros in the query. It actually made it really hard to find and fix the issue.

Haha no shade to Tino. Most of BQ is fine, the date_diff function was the biggest pain for me to remember 🤦🏻‍♂️

True! But transitioning to BigQuery and having to learn its SQL dialect almost killed me 😆
