Do you know who builds gold ballrooms while their citizens struggle to get healthcare?

Kings and Dictators

Do you know who kills people randomly, and gives no reason other than, "Trust me, they were bad"?

A king or a dictator.

I never participated in conversations like that, even when I was young and a Republican.

Things I didn't expect to learn this year: Pepper bullets "bounce right off" inflatable costumes.

Imagining thinking the lake of fire is literal, but the part about welcoming strangers is not. (Matt 25)

In no version of Christianity do people go to hell for *welcoming* immigrants.

I have some bad news: Even among the Rapture crowd, there's very little belief that DJT would be taken. They mostly think of him as a wicked but useful tool -- useful in God's plans to save them as the chosen people, but not a real member of the club. (This is the Cyrus analogy they're so fond of.)

I chose Moderna for my Covid vaccination because NPR ran a story that Moderna released a study showing their vaccine is effective against 95% of current strains, and because Dolly Parton.

I figure every clause of that sentence makes me RFK Jr's nemesis, and that makes me happy.

If you know a Bishop, Provost, Conference Minister, or other leader responsible for oversight, know that they're probably dealing with a lot of calls from people trying to silence free speech by filing complaints against anyone they disagree with.

I asked my PCP if I could get a Covid vaccination as a first responder, because I'm clergy. She said, "They won't even let medical personnel get it without having one of the specific underlying conditions."

Tell how this is pro-life?

I'm unbelievably sad to learn the Murdochs have agreed to produce poison for the rest of my parents' lives. ☠️

I know the man in the White House often struggles with basic Christian ideas, so maybe I can help.

Living in Portland is not like living in hell. It's like living in a country run by the Antichrist. Those are different things.

Living in Portland is not like living in hell. The spirit of the Antichrist has taken hold of the country, but that's not the same thing as living in hell.

Tens of millions of dollars to create Department of War signage, stationary, etc. because a man-child thinks it sounds cool. Yup, let's give him the Peace Prize.

Kevin Mannix thinks the time is ripe to ask voters to repeal the tax on millionaires and billionaires inheriting their daddy's money. He must be living in a different timeline than I am.

I'd like to report someone who is desecrating the American flag. How much prison time will he get?

Best. Sally Bowles. Ever.

We will survive. But we won't do it to that song anymore.

Wait a minute! Kim Davis has had three husband's, and four weddings? And she thinks the Bible forbids me from having one?

If the Fed really wanted to stick it to the guy in the White House, they'd give him his moronic demand, lower interest rates, and let prices spike right before the midterms.

I'm glad they're not economic numnuts or partisan hacks.

When the White House threatens to raise import taxes to 50%, 80%, or 100%, but *only* raises them to 15%, that's not actually good.

Amy Sherald is a goddam national treasure.

As a Conference Minister, if I decided to take two months off in order to avoid having to deal with someone accused of raping children, I would rightly lose my job and be publicly shamed.

One of my #uccsynod takeaways: I want to get myself a big ball gown and then walk with a rolling gate, heel-to-toe like a camera man, and pretend to be floating.

As we commemorate the 300th anniversary of the German Reformed Church, remember that most German Churches didn't start worshipping in English until the early 20th century. Immigrant communities keep their languages, and that's a good thing. #uccsynod #immigrantjustice
