Polarization is a problem, and it has two solutions: you can restrict the rights of citizens to engage in politics, or you can let political cohesion evolve naturally by helping people. Democrats cannot reach their hand across an aisle that doesn’t want to play ball.

Mamdani and Trump are both New Yorkers, and their elections are emblematic of the shift facing us today: socialism or barbarism. It’s a shift that moderate liberals have always stumbled on, despite its clear answer. Which is why Americans need to follow NYC, and stop picking moderates.

If Democrats want to win, they need to look to the future. They need to find and endorse candidates who want radical change for the betterment of the people. And as younger and younger people come of voting age, they are making it clear the party has to change or it will die.

They have, since Carter but especially since 2016, tried to appeal to both sides by pushing moderates and the status quo. And in so doing, they’ve compromised with people who are willing to sacrifice as many Americans as possible so the rich can get richer.

What the election in New York City has shown is that the people want candidates who are radical, someone who is trying to implement policies that will genuinely make life easier to live for the people. And Democrats stumbled over themselves trying *not* to endorse him.

Bridged by enacting policies that helped American citizens, not by appealing to better nature. The man won FOUR presidential elections during one of the most difficult periods in American history.
