What if we said one citation to rule them all instead of “policy framework”

So my lawyer brain wants to explode because I could spend like 20 posts explaining this with graphs and citations, but it is 6PM on a Friday and my partner gets home soon, so I give you these two screenshots of a summary of a summary of a summary:

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, will history remember you as a man so oblivious or so corrupt that he went on a ~book tour~ as our democracy descended into an authoritarian regime?

I mean, “being considered” is strong language 🤔. Yes, there was a 2024 CEC report listing all the possible ways to regulate oil refineries, given the declining demand in the energy transition. Screenshot of basically all it says on the “option” of state ownership ⬇️

The news reports about messaging around “cuts” or “clawbacks” that fail to talk about the violation of the judicial orders to lift the funding freezes are also killing me. Not the usual budget cuts, y’all!

@centeronbudget.bsky.social has a good breakdown of the status of climate dollars

Very helpful conceptual intervention here from the brilliant Prof. @jodyfreeman.bsky.social*: structural de-regulation.

*I was fortunate enough to have her teach my 1L LegReg + Enviro Law classes. Would say now is a good time to follow her on Bluesky/Linkedin to make sense of Trump/Musk destruction

Couldn’t start the day w/out finding for the answer to how far the courts can go to enforce violated orders. You were right about US Marshals @sylviachi.bsky.social. It hasn’t really been tested beyond that though.

@justsecurity.org did the research: www.justsecurity.org/38268/holdin...

Well, it’s not totally *another* unrelated thing. Plenty of folks have predicted this play (see eg the @choosedemocracy.bsky.social choose your path in an authoritarian regime), but it just hits different when it’s happening.

Excellent reporting from @propublica.org on how banal a #coup can look. The barrage of wild EOs, memos, and press releases was one thing -- but this historic #constitutionalcrisis is another.
