Would I tell somebody in my position who rated their pain a 10 that they were wrong, because it could be worse? No, because it wouldn’t be helpful. In this fascism debate though, I can see why some could benefit from a reminder that they can still make a difference.

It’s kind of like when a dr asked me to rate my pain before the epidural kicked in & I said 5. My husband asked why I said 5 when he could see I was in agony. I said b/c even though the pain was awful, it would be worse if I was not only in labor but also getting my arms sawed off at the same time.

It’s all relative. For many, this is the closest thing to fascism they’ve seen. Without proper historical context (or real life experience from another place/point in time), some feel like we’re already living in a worst-case scenario. Because it IS the worst thing they’ve lived through this far.

There’s always somebody (sometimes me 😭) doing a full blown sprint from the end of terminal B to the tip of terminal E in order to make a connection leaving in two minutes. Extra fun when you’re hauling a laptop bag and your carry-on.
