Big-time nerd of many things, small-time gov't worker
Dropped out of college to take a part-time job just as a full-timer's job announced his retirement. Learned his job, got the job. Then my supervisor was out for a year. Learned her job. She retired after, got her job. I had the privilege of being present at the right time, which got me above rivals.

And its two exclusions, 30 minutes or less and no other circumstances considered, means that any time I'd go "oh what about Augury," I'd be immediately told that it would either provide me with nothing or just fail.l to work.

I was given it as a free spell because of my divination focused spellcaster PC, effectively turning it into a cantrip. It's just never been helpful.

It's easy to see why the company is so successful

Especially the rainbow rollercoaster level!

I remember how motion-sick I would get zipping around with all those colors vibrantly flashing by, trying to pick out from the chaos the direction I wanted to go.

Older ship's exterior, newer ship's interior.

Very interesting and helpful thread. I will be running a STA game at some point in the near future, and I like to do my notes in fonts that are evocative of the setting.

I just got the dice yesterday and the art truly is so lovely!

I assume that it's because progress in some areas outpaced other areas?

I would like to see that handled, and hopefully through some sort of Tasha's or Xanathar's like release. Not wait for the next grand reiteration of the ruleset.

None of my PC deaths have been glorious come to think of it.

First PC fell because I figured the death save odds were in my favor to survive at least one more round.

And then I rolled a Nat 1 and died. The start of what has quickly become my own dice curse. I cannot survive death saves.

Accidentally stopped concentrating on Protection from Good and Evil by casting another spell, a grievous error which culminated in my PC being killed by the charmed PC I was supposed to be protecting.

Was just the two of us having snuck off on our own. Not exactly glorious but wasn't boring either!

But I do understand and fully relate to being reticent over the system change. I'm not super into their Daggerheart one-shots, but they also have very different storytelling, character building, and narratives for their one-shots and short-form series.

So I just don't know yet, I need to see it.

Their saying "New GM" was the clue that pretty much sealed it for me, though of course until it's officially stated I could be wrong.

But I'm not surprised. I mean, Daggerheart seemed specifically built for their style of actual play. And with C3's ending, Daggerheart's release, what better time?

To be fair, Shadows has an incredibly small, small amount of it. I think the only parts of it that were required were a combined 10 minutes, broken up into 2 or 3 chunks across several dozen hours of gameplay.

I'd be blown away if she simply guessed and got them right, but the fact that she straight up figured it out and used flavor-based logic to reach the right conclusions...

Jordan is on a whole other level

Oh, oh yeah, yeah I know which points then. I think I was still numb from what happened in Guns of Tanith when Sabbat Martyr happened, but man...

I don't know which books you're reading, but there are a few standout points that I imagine you have reached one of.

And one in particular that I have still not forgiven him for, a decade later.

My top two already are but I'd love to see some FF9 love.

Oh this is a real neat idea. Definitely following in hopes of seeing a dragon with a thagomizer!

An interior POV where resource and station management filled the gaps between each heavy step and shot, that'd be cool. Watching the destruction occasionally through a viewscreen or needing to go outside. Fighting off invaders who scramble up the feet.

"Man, the Senate probably isn't taking all this news well."
"Oh, I actually have good news there!"

The "fix" our group use is to stick with the 2014 Backgrounds, use Tasha's ASI, and pick any Origin Feat.

Which fortunately is very easy to do on D&D Beyond.
May 27, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Tying specific feats and even worse, starting ASIs, to backgrounds is my primary pain point with 5e's 2024 update. I really don't know why they backed away from Tasha's approach, which IMO was far better.

It's been really cool to watch these pop up in my feed, and at a really opportune time as I start looking for inspiration to run a bronze age game using a LotR TTRPG ruleset.
