Issue is that there isn't any alterative to driving in many regions. If there was a fully developed & reasonably priced public transport & bike network, an actual alterative, it was still be rubbish for drivers in rural communities, but at least there's would be a choice.

The ONLY answer should be to provide a rail option for North Cornwall, not just franchising the little rail we don't have. We literally have nothing to franchise! That answer is just rubbing it in North Cornwall faces!

In #PMQs we'll be getting a question about #Cornwall #Transport Connectivity to Coastal Areas by @jaynekirkhammp.bsky.social - however if the answer is franchising then it shows how little Gov knows the area. There isn't even a #rail line in North Cornwall! Once every 3hr is a #bus to the station!
