i won’t lie, it’s harder for me to remember how some things felt as a kid, but i also just treat everyone like ppl, including kids, & that’s literally all it is. instead adults want to treat them as pure innocent beings who must not be tainted & are also property of their parents

a post by victoria_r_weyland (apologies, i don’t know which site) the wildest part of my AuDHD journey was learning that, ADHD brains when understimulated will decide it’s time to sleep. i spent years desperately trying not to fall asleep in meetings at work and you’re telling me it was my brain going “bored as heck, entering power saving mode.” it makes me so happy that this found the people who either needed to hear it and/or just needed the validation that it is not you darlin, you are not lacking the will power to stay awake, your brain is just understimulated.

since i moved in a couple of years ago, i’ve been asking my apt management to test for mold. i asked when i moved in, i asked after i got sick with a fungal infection last year, and i asked just a couple of weeks ago. each time, they either came in and just wiped any visual trace off with cleaner +
my bedroom closet ceiling a couple of weeks ago with very obvious water damage and a very dark mold growing on it a petri dish with mold growing in it

Regarding NSFW content & payment processors Hi all, we want to address some concerns that have come up in our community as a result of recent events surrounding NSFW content, payment processors, and age verification. It's clear a lot is changing recently concerning access to adult content on the web. First, regarding the removal/delisting of "adult content" by Steam and itch.io recently: we do not expect that Pillowfort will be affected by this. For one thing, we do not sell access to adult content, so the rules that have caused Steam & itch to make these decisions don't apply for us as we are not selling games or other content. However, even without selling adult content, simply having adult content on one's site can create issues with payment processors who don't allow clients to even host that kind of content. You don't have to worry about this regarding Pillowfort, because we have already dealt with that issue. Early PF adoptees may remember that we used to accept payments through PayPal, but Paypal closed our account without warning years ago simply because we allow our users to upload adult content. As such, we have to use a payment processor that specifically handles "high risk" clients such as adult content-related businesses. This comes with much higher processing fees than "regular" payment processors to compensate for the "risk," which adds to our financial challenges. The benefit is though, that unless something drastically changes, we should be safe from payment processor censorship. However, if you are mad about these recent developments, we greatly encourage you to let Visa/Mastercard know! It would be a huge game changer for us if services like PayPal and Stripe could be pressured into relaxing their content restrictions for their clients. Secondly, we have been asked about the recent legislation enacted in the UK that requires sites that host adult content to require age verification, even those hosted outside the UK. This is a hairier issue since the guidelines are very loosely-defined in places, and frankly we do not yet know how this will affect us, but we are reaching out to sources that can help us navigate this. We hate the idea of forcing our UK users to submit to privacy-violating age verification, but we cannot deny that it may simply be necessary for us to implement it to avoid fines and litigation. We will let you all know if any changes will be coming as we explore our options. Thank you all for your concern and for supporting Pillowfort through all this. It's a turbulent time on the web, and a reminder of why it is necessary for independent spaces to exist that protect the creative freedom of their users. Best, Staff
