...They used gen AI for the spectators? Why the? Just put a flat bitmap of vaguely humanoid shapes who cares.

It's probably fine. There were NPCs that talked at Samus in 3 and in the preview footage we have MacKenzie disappears after like 10 minutes.

There was voice acting in both Dread and Prime 3. Prime 3 more so in a way that's similar to the goober in Prime 4 that seems to be there for about 10 minutes before going away.

I did recently learn there are people that actually hated Pauline in DK Bananza and she wasn't even anywhere near as chatty as a companion NPC in any other game.

I did see some game play of the preview and the dude just seems like he's gone after a certain point, so I don't really know. Prime 3 already had Federation troops talking at Samus in the beginning.
