Today is International Roma Day! I made quick visit to our local library and found a little exhibition with books in and information about #Romani and the #Roma people. #Romani (all varieties) is recognised as a national minority language in Sweden since 2000.

Pågående osynlighet i majoritetssamhälle nämns ofta när det gäller #nationellaminoriteter, särskilt #tornedalingar, #kväner & #lantalaiset. Därför blev jag extra glad när jag just stötte på detta kapitel i en ny bok som vi tagit in som kurslitteratur för blivande F-3-lärare. Yks askel etheenpäin! 🙌

I mitt kontor hänger bl.a. ett vykort med ett gammalt foto av samiska elever i Kautokeino samt ett skosnöre. En samisk kollega till mig har lärt mig fläta dessa.

Before heading South by boat, @susannemohr7.bsky.social and I had the chance to visit an exhibition of the Kven artist Åsne Kummeneje Mellem in Kirkenes.
This is her work ”I never learnt my mothertongue”. Happy to say that we actually heard and saw Kven in Kirkenes as well.❤️
