Oat milk good, Coldplay bad
17 months on and the solution they've found is to cancel more than half of renewable energy projects and not change the license to build system at all???

Make the licenses last 5 years, be non-transferable and have the companies pay a deposit that they get back as they build.
December 8, 2025 at 6:45 AM
Labour said on day 1 that the whole reason for these "zombie" projects is that a license to build comes with no obligation to build, lasts 15 years and can be sold on.

I remember being impressed that they identified the root cause of the problem so fast.

I hate to be the guy who keeps touching the "that's what Hitler did sign", but I don't know how else to say it

Just openly admitting it was a bribe, I know the mask has been off for a while, but it still surprises me every time they're so blatant about it

They always have covers to make their anti immigration crap look compassionate. They won't say the true reason because deception is the only thing they know.

There's no such thing as a "superfood", it's just a PR term from the farming industry to increase low vegetable prices

They look so unbelievably ugly

There's no such thing as progress with the US. Their leader is a senile, oversensitive egotist. One perceived slight while he is sundowning and we're back to square 1

All you need to harvest mushrooms is common sense and respect for the risks, just get a guidebook and look at it. The entire nation of Sweden spends half the year harvesting bin bags of chanterelles without incident.

Anyone who believes that 99% of "AI" is anything more than a tool for lazy idiots to generate slop that makes them feel clever is probably one of the lazy idiots.
December 6, 2025 at 3:13 PM
We really didn't need academics to tell us that AI is producing slop, but I disagree with the characterisation of it as a problem, it does what it's supposed to do.

In my estimation, the problem is the name, it's false advertising, call it what it is: a slop generator.

It'll be great to watch him fail again, hopefully this one breaks him

Mass surveillance, labelling political protestors as terrorists so they can be mass arrested, removing jury trials, collecting IDs online and revoking the right to privacy.

This is the sort of portfolio an authoritarian fascist government would be proud of.

They lied about day 1 in their manifesto

They lied saying that changing it to 6 months would allow them to have it in effect by April

If you believe there are no more lies in this announcement, then please reach out to me, I can make you a millionaire tomorrow if you just send me £2000 today

Consciously drinking water is just not part of the culture in England so I guess no-one has thought to do that

We take in about 3L of rainwater per day just by breathing, 2L by osmosis due to being soaked by the rain and 682L per day of tea, so we never need a glass of the stuff
December 3, 2025 at 8:22 PM
In GB (but not NI) offering free tap water to anyone is a requirement of the "in-license" that allows alcohol to be served and consumed on premises. This particular article is about New York.

The England/Wales license rule has a weird loophole, unlimited fees can be charged for "renting a glass"

Maybe that's the Starmer problem, his idea of "raising pressure" is to say how much he appreciates them

10 years ago I wouldn't have had to add a sarcasm disclaimer but this is actually how tech people think now so here is the sarcasm disclaimer.

I don't know what you're talking about. Nvidia loaning hundreds of billions to broke AI companies so they can buy more Nvidia chips is the sign of a healthy and prosperous market and not market manipulation. I'm sure it will be a healthy and functioning market if it can just get a little more money.

He looked into the eyes of a monster and went above and beyond the requirements of his duty as a lawyer to crush his victims and release the monster. Every death that followed was assisted by him.

I hope that weighed on him until the end.

I'll never forget the name John Marsden: the lawyer who represented him after he raped 2 teenagers. Marsden claimed they were lesbians so couldn't have been raped by a man. That played well enough to get an acquittal.

He is somehow memorialized as a gay rights activist.
