heros the most thought out as I've drawn him the most. but others are gonna get more complex soon enough. cold got an entirely new design from what I originally gave him. and I haven't drawn hunted more than. one time [he's a Cali quail]

his collarbone fluff reflecting a gorget
the wing and tail feathers resembling a cape, and the wing shaped fluffs on his arms and legs are supposed to make the scaled parts of his arms resemble gauntlets

I do have a suit of armor designed for him I just haven't finished it yet ^<^

and I really. really liked what that could represent for hero. little guy wears his heart on his sleeve. so. having a very apparent heart in his design was a necessity

the non barn owl parts of his design are supposed to reflect armor. the shoulder feathers are pauldrons

the quiet theme. the plumicorns. the fluffiness. that's an owl.

barn owls also look like little knights to me. their faces look like a helmet, their beak being the opening to a visor, they look like an owl with a mask/helmet on

their face also has that characteristic heart shape on it[cont]

for hero:

He was the first voice I ever had an idea of what they'd look like. ever since I first heard him/his demeanor he just. *was* a barn owl

I was drawn towards an owl for him too bc, b4 I was told otherwise, I thought tlq was an owl ! [still do, but now I know more]

They're also scavengers. which is something I'd think suits opportunist well
the colors and markings SCREAM opportunist to me as well. mottled little think with funny hair

for opportunist:
roadrunners are really pointy. oppy is very pointy to me [with his gestures in tlqs body/how he maneuvers tlqs feathers. he's pointy]
They're also pretty slender, another thing I see oppy being
but the main thing that made me choose it was a joke I told my wife [cont]

I spent a LOT of time deciding which bird for who and why. my other bird decision I love was making opportunist a road runner. however the best choice of all time has to be barn owl for hero. barn owl look like little polite knights and I love it

hes also a black swan. black and red seemed like a good color combination for him, and they have some fun light highlights on their beaks.

It's also really funny to imagine something as pretty as a swan making some of the most rash and impulsive decisions known to bird kind.

I was torn between a goose or swan. geese are more aggressive, but a bit of an obvious choice?
swans are aggressive too, and I really like the juxtaposition of their elegant look vs their behavior
and a scruffy, beat up swan sounded fun!

though my wife wants to see some opportunist and damsel... you'll likely see that soon. damsel reveal will be real
working on making refs for all my different voice designs rn, too. so expect that soon as well!

i haven't posted my broken or damsel designs here yet... but broken is a chunky Lil slender beaked scimitar and I draw damsel in blue. will have heart pupils and a big ol bow on the back of her dress ^<^
