Started noticing this while reading Stranger in a Strange Land. Whole chapter where the author's self insert character rants about how good libertarianism is. 100% monologue. 0% story progression. His arguments only made sense in this bullshit made up world that he had invented.

Maybe the public would know the difference if journalists did their damn jobs and educated people on the nuances of the situation in their articles.

The discourse around AI is immensely stupid. We've been using ML in cancer screenings without the average person knowing for the past 2 decades but the Internet wants to cancel AI because of the awful predictions of CEOs who are out of touch with the engineers who are actually building the things.

The guy who signed up to be the first isn't a musk fanboy. If you watch the interviews with him from when it was first implanted he said he was well aware of the risks but he was willing to risk death because being a quadriplegic fucking sucks and he wanted to try anything to have some autonomy.
