I feel the same way, I'd rather give the money to the players. But, I guess the best argument is that the coach is the one person who would be the face of your program over time whereas players come and go so fast. So a perception of a good coach leads to the perception of a good program.

I loved Harden the player but you would be insane not to realize he has always had parts of his game that were not conducive to winning, even when he had Wilt Chamberlain like efficiency and volume. However he's always been focused on playing his style rather than adapting to win.

What I learned in the article is apparently that Ty Lue, Lawrence Frank, and JVG have as much of a loser mentality as Harden does. Nothing that was described about Chris Paul should be upsetting to any multi bullion dollar franchise with championship aspirations that wants to win.
