Was photographing a sandhill crane family today (see the colt bottom right) in Michigan and a red-winged blackbird dropped by. I suspect he was trying to drive them away from his nest, but it didn't work. #birds

The 1926 Tutor Revival home of W.K.Kellogg near Kalamazoo, Michigan. Now a house museum and event venue. I helped take down Christmas decorations this morning. Lots of trips to the basement.

I am ashamed to say I am not certain whether this is a downy or a hairy woodpecker. Bill seems long for a downy, and I don't see any dots on the outer tail feathers, but I don't see the dark shoulder spur that I usually see on the hairy woodpecker either. #birds
